Rent index for Magdeburg
The City of Magdeburg launched a qualified rent index at the beginning of the year. It is valid until 30 January 2026 and is available as a brochure as well as an online calculator. Tenants can use it to calculate the local comparative rent for their flat from the comfort of their own computer. The qualified rent index should lead to a positive relationship between tenants and landlords and reduce legal disputes between them. In the context of rent increase procedures, it offers both contracting parties transparent reference points for an appropriate margin of manoeuvre. The information is non-binding and without guarantee. The background to this is the reform of rent index legislation.

Changes for online appointment booking at the Citizens' Registration Offices
In order to be able to continue to provide appointments at short notice, the online appointment booking for the citizens' offices will be changed to a lead time of two weeks from 18 March. The calendar is currently still open six weeks in advance. The reason given is the increasing demand for prompt appointments. In particular, timely appointment requests, for example to meet the statutory registration deadline of 14 days after moving into a new home, can be fulfilled in this way. For emergencies, such as applying for a document after theft or loss, the contingent consultation hours at the citizens' offices will continue to be available Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 9.00 a.m. Depending on staffing levels, additional daytime appointments will also continue to be available online.
