Playground tour with Sylvia on 11 August 2024

What do cheese and artists have to do with playgrounds? You and your kids will find out on our next playground tour, which takes us to the Plötzky vacation park, around 25 kilometers from Magdeburg. A varied leisure and children's paradise awaits us there. When the weather is nice, a small swimming lake offers the necessary cooling off. There are also further tips on family-friendly bathing lakes in the area.

Hiking tour in the Harz mountains with Christian on 1 September 2024

We want to go hiking with you and show you that the Harz Mountains are a fantastic hiking paradise. The 15-kilometre hiking trail starts near Wernigerode and runs around the Steinerne Renne, a natural monument. The idyllic tour leads past dreamy nature trails, the wild and romantic Ilse Valley and impressive cliffs. Also suitable for beginners.

Canoe taster course on 6 August | 3 September 2024

Magdeburg lies on the Elbe river. What could be more natural than getting to know the city from the water side? We would therefore like to invite you to a paddling taster course. In cooperation with the Kanu-Klub Börde e.V., you will receive an introduction to paddling and then go kayaking along the Alte Elbe to the Stromelbe. And if you enjoy it, there is more information about canoeing in Magdeburg.

Tennis taster course on 10 August | 24 August | 7 September 2024

Have you always wanted to get a taste of the world of tennis? Then discover the sport in just a few hours! The tennis club 1. TC Magdeburg e.V. offers a free trial lesson for children and adults on August 10, August 24 and September 7 from 10 to 11 am. There are also beginner courses, either in compact form or in a 10-week course. Bats and balls are provided on loan.

Up to 8 weeks delivery time for passports

If you would like to apply for a passport at the moment, you must expect a longer delivery time. The reason for this is that the Federal Printing Office is currently unable to meet the usual delivery times of 2 to 3 weeks to the citizens' registration offices due to increased demand. It currently takes 6 weeks, and in some cases up to 8 weeks, for a passport application to be ready for collection from a Magdeburg citizens' office. However, our citizens' office will help in urgent cases and will try to find alternatives. It is also possible to apply for an express passport.

City administration introduces digital naturalization application

Magdeburg residents who wish to obtain German citizenship can now submit their application for naturalization online to the foreigners authority of the state capital. The application is submitted digitally via the website "Online application for naturalization". It will no longer be possible to accept written forms in future. The online forms reduce the time and organizational effort on both sides.

Water sports have a long tradition in the Elbe city of Magdeburg. So it makes sense to get involved in water sports. Playing sport in a club not only promotes a sense of identity and togetherness, but also increases the willingness to get involved in society and provides pure nature experiences on and around the water.
